GOALS!!
GOAL SETTING
If you don't know where you are going, how will you know when you have arrived? In order for your goals to be effective they should be SMART:
Specific. Make your goals as detailed as possible.
Measurable. Choose a measure such as running time, distance, or the completion of a specific event.
Attainable. Don’t set unrealistic goals. You will be disappointed with yourself if you don’t achieve them. Start with goals that you know you will be able to reach. Then, when you get there, you can set new and even more challenging goals.
Remember. Write down your goals and put them somewhere that you will see them every day. Even better- share them with your friends to increase your accountability and support.
Time-bound. Set out a specific amount of time to reach your goals. This will help to ensure that you are working towards them and not putting them on the back burner.
There are a few different types of goals you may want to set:
Short-term goals. Setting weekly or even daily goals such as running 4 days in the week will help you keep on track.
Long-term goal. Set a performance goal that you can work towards such as breaking 10k time or running non-stop for 20 minutes.
Dream goal. A big event or special distance that seems just out of reach but that is still physically possible. I.e. running a marathon in Hawaii!
